go into a starbucks in NYC and say very loudly into your phone “this movie script is stale and trite! we need some new talent, someone with a fresh outlook” and wait
I think its a really good series so far in that it contains humour, RoMaNcE, action and some shock factor. There is large audience I reckon it will appeal to. However I think that it may over romanticise what happens in Afghanistan, which would suck but I don’t think is the main point of the series. I really am liking the two main male characters (capt. James and smurf) as they seem realistic and are well acted. Molly is also very well acted and has her moments of loveableness and humour. I really hope they make sure Molly remains likeable as her behaviour towards smurf in ep 2 was somewhat unnecessarily harsh ( im an emotional softie ha ) I can defo see how it is her character etc etc however I hope she doesn’t become too mean which would be quite unfortunate.
Overall I am really really really enjoying the series so far, the whole bashira thing was v v well filmed in my opinion although I don’t know if it was at all accurate, in the film sense of the scenes it was very well handled and defo provoked the desired emotions of shock and pity in me!!
The romance is also something that is very interesting as smurf and James are so different but equally heart palpatation-worthy and I am interested to see who she will ‘choose’ in the end, (inevitable but I am dreading it)
Both of these characters are very likeable and the rest of the platoon with their odd nick names are growing on me too.
The music choices are also very good, in my opinion, with enough of a modern twist to not be too melancholy but not too unnecessarily loud and well known eg the theme song, war rages on, which is really sort of adrenaline pumping, in a way, talking about war and love and survival and such like…
So far a definite 4.7 / 5 !!!
Really excited for the next episode!!
